A Brief History

Schultz Resort Rod and Gun Club was founded in 1937. Howard Schultz, a life-long lover of the shooting sports, wanted a place where sportsmen could gather. Much has changed since six charter members formed the club, but one thing has remained according to Howard's wishes: his will specified that the grounds could only be used for a gun club. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the safe and recreational use of firearms and archery through the education and practice of these tools.

Who We Are

Schultz's is a group of over 300 individuals. As such, membership is as varied as the people who make it up. Broadly speaking, however, we are men and women who value and conserve the environment and wildlife, who enjoy the shooting sports, and who enjoy sharing those interests with like-minded people.

As an open membership club, Schultz hosts many well-organized events each year that allow the public to participate in the shooting sports under the supervision of experienced volunteers, many of whom are certified Range Safety Officers. In this way, the Schultz Resort Rod and Gun Club provides range opportunities in a setting that is highly conducive to firearm safety and skill development.

What We Do

The club and its complement of experienced volunteers have conducted Hunter Education Field Days since 1974 and has been awarded outstanding Hunter Education Program by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation. Our program prepares approximately 140 new hunters each year to safely and knowledgeably participate in Wisconsin's hunting tradition.

Schultz has offered archery lessons in the spring and summer for the past decade through the Parks and Rec Activity Guides in Muskego and nearby towns. The club hosts numerous other events for the benefit of outdoor enthusiasts, including the annual picnic of the Adaptive Sportsmen, whose mission is to provide outdoor recreational opportunities for physically challenged people. We proudly host an annual NRA Women on Target event to introduce women to the shooting sports and archery. We also make our facilities available to local law enforcement to meet their periodic training and certification needs. As a long-standing part of the Muskego community, Schultz enjoys popular support from local organizations and businesses. In 2016, for example, 27 area businesses and organizations donated products, services, and money to make our recent "Take Aim at Cancer" event a success.
